Townville and Methley clinch play-off spots

TOWNVILLE moved closer to lifting the Premier Division title with their 13th successive league win.

Conor Harvey hammered six sixes in an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls and Jonny Booth hit 66 as Townville posted 234-5 against strugglers Altofts, who were routed for 68 by Harvey (3-4), Dean Woolsey (3-14) and Jack Hughes (3-7).

Townville stayed 12 points of closest rivals Methley, who avenged a four-wicket defeat at Batley earlier this season.

Ryan Meyer (58) and Marcus Walmsley (51no) guided Methley to victory after Jack Rich (4-40) and Michael Waite (3-32) had toppled Batley for 164.

Townville and Methley will represent the league in the Senior Yorkshire Council Championship play-offs on August 25 when they both have home ties against Pontefract League opponents.

Hunslet Nelson eased relegation worries by scraping a two-wicket win over bottom side Northowram Fields who were skittled for 106 by Will Stiff (4-22), Masaud Mohmend (2-8), Danniel Cross (2-32) and Robert Barker (2-28).

Eric Austin (76no) and Nick Kaye (66) put on 125 as Birstall overhauled Wrenthorpe’s 220-5 with just three balls remaining.

Luke Patel (77) and Matt Slater (76) led Wrenthorpe’s scoring with a 138-run partnership.

Joe Cook (93) and Jordan Anderson (58) guided Wakefield Thornes to 242-5 at Ossett, whose reply fell narrowly short on 238-8, despite a 96-run stand between Shoaib Latif (77) and Javid Umarji (52).

Jaycob Curtling (67no), Phil Page (52) and Chris Leaf (4-32) gave Carlton the edge against Mirfield Parish Cavaliers.

Hopton Mills retained top spot in Division One by trouncing East Leeds.

Ashley Mackereth struck 105 off 91 balls as Hopton piled 308-8 and Tahmidul Islam bagged 4-37 as East Leeds fell for 135 in reply.

Hopton are one point clear of Scholes who were indebted to Aleem Ladak (4-38), Altaf Patel (58) and Dominic Cumming (40) for a 34-run win at Wakefield St Michael’s.
