Townville make it 10 in a row to press Methley

JONATHAN Booth and Tim Walton shared an unbroken 135-run stand to keep Townville one point behind Premiership leaders Methley with two matches remaining.

Booth (81no) and Walton (58no) guided Townville to their 10nth straight league win against Ossett, who collapsed from 115-2 to 157 all out. Nick Bresnan (4-25), Conor Harvey (3-13) and Jack Hughes (3-39) did the damage.

Ed Walmsley (42) steered Methley to 160 and snapped up 3-14, combining with twin brother Marcus (3-30) and John Rickers (4-50) to rout Thornes for 107.

Hunslet Nelson climbed off the foot of the table by defeating fellow strugglers Hopton Mills.

South African Jean Strydom (43) and Tommy Roy (31) led Hunslet to a three-wicket win after Will Stiff (4-33) and Glen Thompson (3-29) had toppled Hopton for 128.

Hunslet are seven points adrift of third-bottom Carlton, who beat Scholes by five wickets, with Jaycob Curtling hitting 54.

Craig Wood claimed 5-55 and struck 38 off 22 balls as Birstall eased relegation worries with an eight-wicket win against Altofts.

Championship title winners Batley beat Oulton by two wickets to increase their lead over second-placed Buttershaw St Pauls to 17 points.

Buttershaw lost at Wakefield St Michael and Liversedge missed a chance to regain second spot when Kirti Tandel (5-40) skittled them for 112 in a six-wicket defeat at bottom side East Leeds.

The second promotion place will be decided by Saturday’s final matches when Liversedge visit Buttershaw and fourth-placed Northowram Fields host East Leeds.
