PREMIER Division pacesetters Wrenthorpe increased their lead to five points by inflicting Townville's first league defeat.

Former Barnsley paceman Joe Ellis claimed 7-42 from 14.2 overs to set up Wrenthorpe's seven-wicket win.

Champions Methley climbed to second when Steve Bourne (60) and Chris Holliday (51) steered them to a 26-run victory over New Farnley.

Nick Cullen (80) and Tom Suggitt (50) led Farnley's scoring.

Opener Alan Burton struck three sixes and 10 fours in a sparkling century and Michael Trevethan bagged 5-46 as Altofts sent 2008 champions Birstall sliding to a fourth successive league defeat.

Mirfield Parish Cavaliers suffered their first league defeat at Buttershaw St Paul's, for whom Naveed Bhatti hammered 88 and Pritish Mistry snapped up 4-43.
