Lyth - knocking on the door of an England call-up after a prolific season with tbe bat – was speaking to The Yorkshire Post after Yorkshire sealed the Division One title by an innings and 152 runs on the morning of the fourth day of their penultimate match of the season against hosts Nottinghamshire.
Lyth helped set up the win for his team with fellow opener Alex Lees when, on the first day, the pair put on 176 for the first wicket, Lyth going on to score 122 - his seventh century of the season, taking his tally in terms of runs scored 1,158 in first-class cricket.
“This is what dreams are made of, growing up as a y0oung kid supporting Yorkshire – winning the County Championship is just unbelievable,” said Lyth.
“In the al;st two games, I’ve been able to put in some big performances and it’s special that I’ve done that but Ryan Sidebottom with his spell there (this morning) has just changed the game and a fully-deserved man-of-the-match performance. We fully deserve this Championship victory.
“There were obviously going to be nerves going into this morning, but we had a big chat and basically it was all about staying as calm as possible under pressure and we were able to do that.”
