Video: Hero Sidebottom no intention of calling time on glittering career
Yorkshire’s ageless seam bowler put the finishing touches on a championship campaign built on youthful energy with a stunning spell of bowling that accounted for Nottinghamshire.
Sidebottom took 4-6 in 7.2 overs yesterday morning to complete a second-innings total of 6-30, his second best of the Championship season.

“I’ll take stock this winter, have a look at how my fitness and the training goes,” said the former England bowler. “I’d like to do two or three more years if I can. There’s no reason why I can’t.
“If the body is feeling good, and these young lads certainly keep me young, then there’s no reason why I can’t do a couple more years.
“It’s a very exciting time for the club, there’s a lot of young players wanting to win things, and a lot of good young international players as well, which is great.

“Dizzy (Jason Gillespie) and Martyn (Moxon) give me days off when the other guys are training, and the strength and conditioning guys and physios are great.
“When you get looked after like that you want to go out and perform and take wickets for the club.”
The Championship title is the fourth of Sidebottom’s career, and second with Yorkshire, as he is the only member of the squad who played a part in the county’s last triumph 13 years ago. He also won two titles in a seven-year spell with Nottinghamshire.

“All four were wonderful team efforts that won it; it wasn’t just about the players it was the whole squad, and the camaraderie this season has been wonderful.”
