Welsh and Tasker put Whitley on top

Coming into the finishing straight, Premier Division title contenders Treeton, without star all-rounder Steve Foster, slipped up at Whiston after the hosts had set a target of 198, Liam Heathcote including 16 boundaries in his 96.

Treeton opener Scott Cunningham gave his side a good start with a half-century, but the guests slumped to 166 all out against the skills of Sohail Awan, who took 6-30.

Treeton’s loss left last season’s champions Whitley Hall clear at the top after their fighting victory at Wickersley.
