Wrenthorpe maintain unbeaten Premier run

UNBEATEN Wrenthorpe stayed on course to lift the Premier Division championship by crushing Northowram Fields.

Tom Glover (5-36) and Joe Ellis (5-13) routed Northowram for 55, replying to Wrenthorpe's 225-8 that included half centuries by Bradley Parker, Alex Sharp and captain Gary Fellows.

Wrenthorpe remain 14 points ahead of closest rivals Methley who beat Altofts.

Hamid Khan (70), Chris Smith (65) and Mark Atkinson (53) steered defending champions Methley to 248-5 and John Rickers (6-31) toppled Altofts for 154 in reply.

A century by Muennoddin Kadri was in vain for Batley who lost their last four wickets for just nine runs in a 52-run defeat against third-placed New Farnley. David McCallum (5-39), Nick Cullen (85no) and Matthew Good (68) were Farnley's match-winners.

Tim Walton hammered 25 fours in a sparkling 135 off 148 balls as Townville piled up 278-8 against Wakefield St Michael's who were bowled out in reply for 154 by Greig Batty (6-34).

Liversedge's relegation worries increased when they lost to fellow strugglers Birstall. Paul Marlow (41) guided Birstall to a two-wicket win after Paul Blakeley (3-21), Zafar Khan (3-31) and Marlow (2-14) skittled Liversedge for 89.

Wakefield Thornes and bottom side Ossett were involved in the Premier Division's second tie this season.

Chasing 197, Thornes finished with an identical score after collapsing from 155-4.

Division One leaders Hunslet Nelson slipped to their first league defeat this season when they lost by seven runs at Buttershaw St Paul's.

Paul Carroll (4-36) and Naveed Bhatti (56) helped give Buttershaw the edge.

Second-placed Mirfield Parish Cavaliers won by 56 runs at Moorlands but Carlton's promotion hopes were rocked when they lost to Methley.

Steve Preshaw (6-27) sent Carlton reeling from 30-0 to 111 all out, replying to 133.

All-rounder Mujahid Hameed (49 and 3-31) led East Ardsley to a four-wicket victory at Woodkirk.
