Yorkshire CCC v Lancashire CCC - Adam Lyth battles away but rain intervenes at Headingley

Yorkshire moved from 97-4 at lunch to 98-4, with Adam Lyth on 45 and Jonny Tattersall on eight. There will be a further inspection at 4pm.

Earlier, Lyth had led Yorkshire’s efforts with the bat on the second morning of the Roses clash.

The left-handed opener battled through the session to reach 45 at the break.

Lyth had yet to score when play began in cloudy conditions, Yorkshire resuming on 8-0 after only 13 balls had been possible on day one due to rain.

After surviving an early lbw shout from Tom Bailey, Lyth got off the mark to his 15th ball when he clipped a leg-side boundary off debutant George Burrows.

Burrows served up a number of leg-side deliveries which Lyth took advantage of - not least when pulling him for six towards the East Stand.

Lyth and Kohler-Cadmore raised a half-century partnership for the first wicket at five runs an over but it was a morning of two halves for the hosts, who were second best from that point.

Kohler-Cadmore, who dropped on nine by wicketkeeper Alex Davies as he dived to his right off Bailey, had doubled his score when he edged the same bowler to first slip, where Keaton Jennings took an excellent low catch to leave the hosts 53-1.

Danny Lamb, who replaced Bailey at the Emerald Stand end, then struck twice in three deliveries as a driving Will Fraine was caught behind for five and Tom Loten lbw for a second-ball duck.

That left Yorkshire 61-3 which became 78-4 when Harry Brook cut a rank long hop from Burrows to Josh Bohannon at point to depart for five.

It should have been 79-5 but Jonny Tattersall was badly dropped on one by Jennings at first slip off Lamb, Tattersall going on to eight at the break.
