Yorkshire succumb to innings defeat against County Championship holders Middlesex at Lord's

Yorkshire produced a limp batting display as they capitulated to defeat by an innings and 64 runs against County Championship holders Middlesex at Lord's.

Having started the third day on 186/9, Yorkshire lost Ryan Sidebottom in the morning session and were made to follow-on 228 runs behind.

The second innings got off to a horror start with Adam Lyth, Harry Brook and Alex Lees all falling with the score on 16.

Gary Ballance, who topscored with 69 not out in the first innings, soon followed for 18 and the wickets continued to tumble into the afternoon session.

Adil Rashid (35) and Steve Patterson (30no) provided a brief respite from the collapse but Middlesex complete victory shortly after 4.30pm.

Spinner Ollie Rayner returned figures of 4-35 as Yorkshire were bowled out for just 174.
