Crucible latest: O’Sullivan and Fu shine in Sheffield

Ronnie O’Sullivan cruised into the second round after a 10-2 win over Dominic Dale at the Betfred.com World Championship, writes Richard Hercock.

Three-times winner O’Sullivan resumed his first-round contest, leading Dominic Dale 7-2.

That quickly become 10-2 after breaks of 115, 96 and 100 from O’Sullivan to set up a second round meeting with former champion Shaun Murphy.

On the other table, 2006 champion Graeme Dott was tied 1-1 with Mark King.

Earlier in the day, Marco Fu took an early advantage in his first-round match with Martin Gould

The Hong Kong potter led 6-3 in his best-of-19 frames match at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

On the other table, Ricky Walden was tied 4-4 against Rory McLeod.
