Dale pounce on indiscipline from hosts

Wharfedale avoided the banana skin of losing to the bottom club and in doing so recorded their first win at Macclesfield in four visits.

A dominant pack laid the foundation for a tough 32-24 win.

Josh Burridge scored twice in the first half but Wharfedale trailed 17-12 at half-time as Macclesfield notched up three tries.

Dale dominated the second half and this pressure led to two Macclesfield players being sent to the sin bin. This helped Dale to score 17 points with Matt Beesley muscling over and James Doherty finishing off a move started by Lloyd Davies.

Tom Davidson added the extras and also kicked a penalty. Macclesfield full-back Rhodri Mayor grabbed a bonus-point try on 70 minutes, but the Greens defence then kept the home side out for a good win to remain in a comfortable mid-table position.
