Daniel Tudhope - In the saddle: Anderiego ready to follow up at Thirsk

One of those horses also offers probably my best chance of another winner this weekend.

That is Anderiego in the totepool Thirsk Cup tomorrow at 3.40pm.

Fitted with a visor, he took the Skybet Supporting The Yorkshire Racing Festival Stakes. That was a very nice victory and it was the third time that the six-year-old had won on Knavesmire.

Indeed, he has not won at any other racecourse in Britain. His other first place was at Tipperary in Ireland as a three-year-old.

He has been raised a few pounds after last weekend but that’s no surprise because a win at York shows that a horse has real quality. What he needs to do now is take his York form and show it further north in the county.

My other ride at Thirsk tomorrow is Miss Mullberry in the nursery race at 2.30pm.

She ran as recently as last Saturday at York when she was runner-up to a Mark Johnston-trained horse in the Skybet Supporting New Beginnings Stakes.

The signs are promising and I think she could be ready to win now.

There’s not much rest for us jockeys and my Saturday doesn’t finish at the racecourse closest to home because I’m off to Hamilton Park in the west of Scotland for evening racing.

Cagoule, a recent purchase from France, runs for the first time in Britain for the boss David O’Meara in the 6.45pm race, while Medici Time from the yard of Tim Easterby and Midnight Dynamo sent out by Scottish trainer Jim Goldie, for whom I won a race at Doncaster eight days ago, are seeking their first victories since 2012 and 2013, respectively.

Back to today and I am on a trip south to ‘Glorious’ Goodwood.’

I won on Two For Two at Ayr in June over a mile and he appreciated the quick ground that day.

Stepping up to a mile-and-a-quarter in the 55th running of the John Smith’s Cup at York last month, he didn’t fare so well, being last of the 16 runners.

He goes back to a mile again for the Betfred Mile at 3.05pm. Over that distance and, on quick ground, he should perform well.

Then I’m on one of my favourite horses of the season in the Group 2 Betfred King George Stakes 35 minutes later.

G Force won for me at the Dante Festival in May and he is targeted at the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe on the third day of the Ebor Festival.

The three-year-old’s last run was when second in the John Smith’s City Walls Stakes at York in the middle of last month.

Fingers crossed, G Force can show his excellent form again today.

The next racing at York is the Welcome To Yorkshire Ebor Festival from August 20-23. The highlights are the Juddmonte International (Wednesday), Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Ladies’ Day, Thursday), Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes (Friday) and Betfred Ebor (Saturday).
