Brendan Dolan took advantage of an off-form performance by 18th seed Kevin Painter to produce some top darts and claim an emphatic 3-0 victory in the PDC Ladbrokes.com World Championship at Alexandra Palace. Painter won just two legs in contrast to his opponent who was in control throughout in London.
Dolan stormed into a 2-0 lead in the opening set as Painter failed to find any kind of form, missing double top for 2-1.
The 37-year-old then took the fourth leg before Painter finally found some form, throwing two treble 20s and double 18 to level.
However, it was merely a respite for Painter as Dolan hit 108 for 2-1 before closing out the set.
Painter took the first leg but Dolan levelled with a double 18 and went on to win the next two legs, finishing the match on double 20.
Alan Tabern beat Richie Burnett 3-2, while Jyhan Artut held off Scott Mackenzie to progress 4-3.
