Dawson chimes in with South Elmsall victory

After setting a new personal best at the age of 41 just two weeks ago, Doncaster time-trial ace Kevin Dawson put his current form to good use when he won the South Elmsall SCC 10-mile event on Saturday.

Dawson clocked 19:25 to win the event at Ranby, Nottinghamshire, by 17 seconds from I Ride Racing Team rival Richard Bradley from the East Midlands.

Another I Ride RT rider, Julian Ramsbottom from Hull, was pushed off the podium into fourth spot by Pendle Forest CC rider Jason Bateman, whose time of 20-14 was just five seconds quicker than his Ramsbottom’s.

Elsewhere, Pudsey-based road racer Adam Duggleby, the 26-year-old who riders for Science in Sport.com, was edged out into second spot in the Fenland Clarion Road Race in Cambridgeshire on Sunday.

Southend rider Jason White (Cycle Premier-Metaltek) took the finish line by a narrow margin from Duggleby, while Adam Griffiths from Shropshire was third.

Cycle Premier-Metaltek were denied a second win of the weekend when Keighley’s Tom Barras was edged into second spot in round 15 of the prestigious Cycling Development North West Road Race League at Oakenclough on Sunday.

A former Team Raleigh rider, Barras was beaten by Team Raleigh’s Richard Handley from Warrington, while another Team Raleigh rider Matt Cronshaw was third.

And in the BBM Sportscover Evening Road Race yesterday, Selby 23-year-old Matthew Williams (Boneshaker Bikes) beat Hull rider Jack Cutsforth (Herbalife) into second spot in the 72-kilometre event at Pickburn near Doncaster.
