Divers is backed to resurface as winner

CHELTENHAM: Ferdy Murphy believes Divers can return to winning ways in today’s Byrne Group Plate.

Fourth last year, the Let’s Live Racing-owned grey has not won since prevailing at the Festival in 2011.

He will be ridden by Saltburn-born James Reveley.

On a relatively low-key day for Yorkshire runners, Nawton trainer David O’Meara runs Loose Performer in the Kim Muir for amateur riders while Jo Foster’s Leac An Scail takes his place in the Cross Country.

This race has been delayed for 48 hours after a heavy frost left the ground frozen on Tuesday.

Cheltenham has announced an 8am precautionary inspection for the chase and hurdles courses ahead of the third day of the Festival.

An 11am inspection had already been called to assess prospects for the Glenfarclas Handicap Chase on the cross-country track.
