Doncaster Rovers sign Ward to ease defensive crisis

DONCASTER ROVERS have signed defender Elliott Ward on a month-long loan from Coventry City as the defensive crisis deepens at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The 25-year-old will go straight into the squad for Tuesday's South Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday.

Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll moved quickly to secure Ward after the club were left with Sam Hird as their only fit central defender.

Meanwhile, Rovers await news of a scan on Gareth Roberts to see if will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
