O'Driscoll failed to bring Southampton midfielder Simon Gillett back to the club but landed Dutch defender Shelton Martis on a three-and-a-half-year deal from West Bromwich.

Martis, who played for Rovers on loan last season, will go straight into the side today.

Former Rovers defender Matthew Mills makes his first return since moving to Reading for 2m six months ago.

"I am pleased for Matt because you want people you deal with to go on and do well," said O'Driscoll. "He is a player who needs time to settle but he is finding his feet there now."
