City of Leeds diver Laugher has added the Front 2 ½ Somersaults Triple Twists piked to his list for 2015 and scored a total of 83.85 for the dive.
Laugher led throughout the final and finished with a total of 462.65.
“I did two pretty decent lists throughout the day,” Laugher said. “In the final my first two dives were probably the best I’ve ever done them then things went downhill a little bit but I tested out a new dive today and it’s the first time I’ve ever done it in competition.
“I also think it’s the first time a British male has done it and I got 91 points in it which is pretty cool. I’ve still got plenty of stuff to work on and it’s still pretty early in the season.”
Commonwealth 3m Synchro Champion Chris Mears (City of Leeds) won silver with a score of 454.20 and bronze went to Jack Haslam (City of Sheffield) with a score of 387.15. Yona Knight-Wisdom scored 390.00 and Oliver Dingley scored 388.25.
Huddersfield’s Lois Toulson impressed throughout the final to secure her first British title after winning the 10m platform final.
The 15-year old, who also trains at the John Charles Aquatics Centre in Leeds, showed her composure as she competed alongside European Champion Sarah Barrow and World Cup fourth place Tonia Couch.
Couch led the way through the final but Toulson saved her best dive until last and took the lead after scoring 88.00 for her Back 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists piked.
The City of Leeds diver scored a total of 366.85 points for gold.
“It feels fantastic to be British Champion,” Toulson said. “I never expected it so it’s great. The last dive is my favourite dive so I was expecting it to be good but I wasn’t expecting it to be that good.”
