Duncalf edges into Malaysian last four

Harrogate’s world No 2 Jenny Duncalf scraped through to the last four of the CIMB Malaysian Open after being given a stern test by Australia’s Kasey Brown.

Duncalf had to come from two games down before finally seeing off Brown 9-11 6-11 11-6 12-10 11-4.

The 28-year-old will now face France’s Camille Serme in today’s semi-final. If successful, she is likely to face world No 1 Nicol David in tomorrow’s final of what is seen as the first big tournament of the 2011-12 season.

David saw off the threat from Duncalf’s England team-mate, Laura Massaro and will face Egypt’s Omneya Abdel Kawy, after she caused an upset in her last eight clash with third seed Rachael Grinham, from Australia, eventually winning a 60-minute battle 11-7 4-11 11-9 2-11 11-9.
