End of the road for Moore after Robson wins battle of the young Britons

Laura Robson moved into the semi-finals of the Wimbledon girls' singles tournament yesterday after recovering from an early setback to beat Yorkshire's Tara Moore in straight sets.

The 2008 champion had her serve broken in the third game but eventually found a way to deal with 17-year-old Doncaster girl Moore's powerful groundstrokes to win 7-5 6-1.

Robson saved a break point in her next service game with one of the eight aces she produced, and went on to prevent her Hampshire-based opponent serving for the first set.

Robson, who lost 3-6 6-7 to fourth seed Jelena Jankovic in the first round of the women's tournament, faces 10th seed Sachie Isizu of Japan in the last four of the girls' event.

Oliver Golding pulled off a dramatic quarter-final win over Argentina's Renzo Olivo to keep alive his hopes of becoming Great Britain's first Wimbledon boys' champion of the Open era.
