Enston ends three-year wait but Harrogate's unbeaten run is over

Caldy 26Harrogate 22WEAKENED Harrogate saw their 10-match winning run end and the two bonus points were scant reward for outscoring Caldy by four tries to two.

After weathering some early pressure, Harrogate's Kyle Dench broke through in midfield and Sam Bottomley was in support to score.

Caldy's Richard Vasey kicked a penalty before Ed Smithies crossed for Harrogate.

Flanker Jon Sewell touched down and Vasey's conversion levelled the scores before Colliston put Caldy ahead.

After the interval, Harrogate pressed but failed to finish.

Harrogate then argued against a strange penalty decision and, from the resultant extra 10 metres, Vasey extended the lead.

The next major incident resulted in a surprising red card for Caldy's John Nugent after a comparatively minor dust-up.

Harrogate continued to attack and Broadley again backed up a break by Parsons to cross. The try was initially awarded but then disallowed after a late intervention by a touch judge. However, almost immediately, some quick thinking at the front of a lineout saw Chris Wilson cross.

Vasey's penalty and drop goal made it 26-15 at the end of normal time. Harrogate continued to press and substitute flanker Andrew Enston scored in his first game for three years and Dickie Davies converted.

Ross Winney then scored a penalty before Evan Stewart cut out a lineout and used the pack to push the ball to the line from 25 metres out.

Darren Wigg managed to revive Hull's spirits when he supported a run up the right from James Cameron and collected the inside pass to run in, although Cameron missed the difficult conversion.

Hull started well in the second half with a quick tempo but Dan Cook was sin-binned for a technical foul. From there, Daniel Baines took full advantage from two close-range scrums in the next five minutes.

Baines was yellow-carded after a dangerous tackle on captain Chris Murphy. This allowed Wigg to sprint through a large gap and Cameron converted.

Macclesfield responded instantly when Stewart scored his second try.

Rob Devonshire also scored a try for Hull but the last move of the game saw Chris Townsend score the hosts' sixth try before Winney added the conversion.
