Fergus now crowned
the supreme champion

BEDALE’S Carol Tetlow and her equine ace Fergus enjoyed another ‘prosperous’ weekend at the Donkey Breed Society Annual Championship Show in Warwickshire.

Tetlow’s Prospect House Prospero, otherwise known as Fergus, was crowned the British supreme driving champion at the event at Moreton Morrell Agricultural College.

In order to land the prize, Fergus had to compete in the exercise and driven dressage classes and complete a four-mile cross-country show drive.

Fergus was British foal champion in 1998 with 2002 seeing him crowned the British stallion champion and the British supreme in-hand champion.

Four years later, he was British gelding champion.

The Bedale-based star, who his owned and bred by Tetlow, is only the second donkey in the history of the Donkey Breed Society to achieve the double of winning both the in-hand and driving supreme championships.

He began his driving career in 2006 and has been the reserve driving champion five times.

He regularly competes against horses and ponies at local agricultural shows in North Yorkshire and, although he has yet to triumph in a class, he has never been placed lower than third.
