Flanker White set to miss Six Nations

Scotland coach Andy Robinson has wished Jason White a speedy recovery after the flanker was ruled out of the Six Nations with a broken leg.

The 31-year-old suffered the injury while training with his club Clermont Auvergne on Friday, fracturing the tibia and fibula in his left leg, and underwent surgery at the weekend.

Robinson, preparing for his first Six Nations since taking over from Frank Hadden in June, said: "Jason has had an operation and we wish him a speedy recovery."

The former national captain came on as a replacement in all three of Scotland's autumn internationals, playing a prominent part in the heroic defensive effort that saw Robinson's side defeat Australia 9-8 at a jubilant Murrayfield.

The 77-times capped forward would have been a certainty for the Six Nations given his fine current form for French Top 14 outfit Clermont, who he joined last summer having spent six years playing for Sale Sharks.
