Ancelotti sure Terry will look forward not back

Captain Terry slipped as he took a crucial shoot-out penalty against Manchester United in the Champions League final in 2008.

Had he scored, Chelsea would have won the trophy they crave, but following his miss the Blues went on to lose. However, Chelsea boss Ancelotti does not believe the former England captain will be affected by his return to the stadium.

"John has great experience so I think what happened two years ago has no effect on him, he has experience," said Ancelotti.

"Everyone knows in football you can sometimes lose games. I lost a final in 2005 but you have to look forward. If you look forward with enthusiasm and character you can have revenge.

"Chelsea lost the final in 2008 but I don't think they will have a psychological problem with that. It is a different story now."

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal are not a "dirty" team and there is no sense of "paranoia" at Emirates Stadium, ahead of their tie with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Jack Wilshere's red card for a studs-up challenge on Birmingham striker Nikola Zigic at the end of Saturday's Barclays Premier League game grabbed the headlines – many of which had more than a sense of Schadenfreude at the expense of the Arsenal manager who has long championed the need to clamp down on over-the-top tackles.

Wenger had used his pre-match programme notes to issue another rally call against the hatchet men, only to then find himself on the backfoot after Arsenal collected their third red card of the season – the most of any team in the top flight.

"I am still calling for it, I defend football. Whether my players are involved or not doesn't matter," said Wenger at yesterday's pre-match press conference.

"Look at the fair-play table in the last five years – you will always find Arsenal in the top two or three. That speaks for the consistency in our behaviour."

Wenger has not yet decided whether to gamble on captain Cesc Fabregas for the Group H game against Donetsk.

The Spaniard has not featured since September 18 and Wenger admitted he will give plenty of thought as to whether he should throw him back into the action.

"Cesc has prepared well. He had a little setback, but got over the hurdle and is ready to play at full fitness, but whether I start him or not, I do not know yet," said Wenger.

"It will be whether I take a gamble or not, because he has been out for a long time."
