Arrival of new striker helps Millers

ROTHERHAM UNITED manager Ronnie Moore has ended his search for a new striker by landing Exeter City's Craig McAllister on a one-month loan.

Moore swooped for McAllister after missing out on Mark McCammon, Marcus Haber and Richard Offiong in the last few weeks.

McAllister, 29, has spent less than two years in professional football but helped Exeter win promotion from League Two last season.

With veterans Paul Warne and Andy Liddell injured and striker Drewe Broughton still out on loan at Lincoln City, McAllister is set to make his debut for the Millers in tomorrow's trip to Dagenham and Redbridge.

Moore said: "I've been looking for a player of his type for a while.

He's an old-fashioned centre-forward, who can get on the end of crosses, but he's also got a bit of pace and likes to play on the shoulder.

"He's been watched, I've also seen DVDs of him and went to see him play in person at Farnborough for the reserves on Wednesday night and he fits the bill."

Moore is still hoping to make further additions to his squad before next Thursday's transfer deadline.

"You can never say never," he said. "If there are people out there who we think can improve the side, we can do it."

The Millers are running the rule over Kenyan international striker Taiwo Atieno who is on trial from American club Rochester Rhinos.

Brixton-born Atieno, 24, has previously played for Walsall, Dagenham and Tamworth.
