Barnsley 0 Leicester City 2: Robins blasts 'shocking' Tykes

BARNSLEY manager Mark Robins has urged his players to ensure their "shocking" performance against Leicester is a one-off.

Angelo Miguel Vitor and Andy King scored goals in each half and Leicester were rarely troubled by a pedestrian Barnsley display.

The Tykes offered sporadic threats after the interval and the closest they came to preventing the visitors claiming their first away clean sheet of the season was when Nathan Doyle's 30-yard thunderbolt cannoned down off the crossbar.

Doyle appeared as part of a double tactical substitution alongside Andy Gray after just half an hour as Robins tried to arrest a torrid opening period for his side.

"We were shocking in the first half," he said. "We tried to open up and have a go but it never worked hence the early changes.

"It's one of those games not to forget, but to learn from. We must get to the crux of it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

"You can't go gung-ho, we've talked about that. This has to be a one-off."

Robins praised Leicester's commanding performance and called on his own side to bounce back against fellow strugglers Preston tomorrow with a display of renewed determination.

"You have to give credit to Leicester," he added. "They came out and put us on the back foot and the players I selected could not deal with that.

"What's lacking is grit. We're going in to win the ball and not taking it. I said to the players we have to win against Preston without a shadow of a doubt."

Leicester, who had Darius Vassell making his debut after signing on a free last month, climbed above the Tykes thanks to their fourth win in six outings.
