Barnsley chief Daniel Stendel heaped praise on striker Kieffer Moore after the hitman's treble did for Rochdale.
The Reds swatted aside their hosts 4-0 with consummate ease, largely thanks to Moore's hat-trick either side of half-time.
The former Rotherham forward struck after Brad Potts' header had opened the scoring.
Stendel said: "In the first three games he (Moore) worked hard for the team without scoring so it's very good that now he has scored.
"He is tall, quick and mobile.
"Although he started out on the right he kept coming in and doing damage."
Stendel also praised his whole team for their comprehensive victory at Spotland.
"I'm very proud of my team," the German added.
"It was a fantastic performance from the first minute.
"Rochdale are a good team but we didn't give them any chances today.
"We want to give our best and today was a very good performance from us.
"Rochdale had one chance just after the break so we did well to stop them."
The Reds have now scored ten goals and are yet to concede this season.
They will be hoping to continue their excellent start when they travel to Scunthorpe on Saturday.
