Barnsley moved a point closer to the League One play-off zone after a 0-0 draw at Burton Albion.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side were held to a scoreless stalemate, but edged a point closer to sixth-placed Gillingham, who lost at home to Port Vale.
Sam Winnall and Ivan Toney both had first-half chance for Barnsley, but had goalkeeper Adam Davies to thank after the break as Mark Duffy went close.
Barnsley have 66 points, with four games remaining, two points behind Gillingham.
“You have to be happy with a point” Heckingbottom said. “As far as nil-nils go it was a good spectacle because both teams gave everything. It was high energy, high tempo. We felt, second half, we started really bright but our quality fizzled out in the final third.
“We had some good opportunities and didn’t capitalise on them. To come to second in the league away from home, we’ve more than matched them so we’ve got to be satisfied with a point.
“We have to be pleased with our application. I said to the boys if we carry on playing like that with the same work rate for the remaining games, no can question it.”
