Town drew 1-1 with Walsall in League One to equal the record set by Brian Clough’s men.
Hull lost out to West Ham in a big promotion battle in the Championship while Barnsley and Leeds play on Sunday.
In League One, Sheffield Wednesday drew 0-0 with Brentford, Bradford lost to Cheltenham in League Two and in the Blue Square Bet Premier, York City held league leaders Wrexham 0-0.

Lewis Grabban (14) put Millers ahead, before Holroyd (41) doubled advantage.

Team news: Alex McCarthy will go straight into the starting XI in place of Paul Rachubka following his arrival on loan from Reading. Tom Lees is suspended so Andy O’Brien is likely to partner Paddy Kisnorbo in defence due to Darren O’Dea being unlikely to recover from the head injury that ruled the on-loan defender against Blackpool on Wednesday.
Brighton and Hove Albion v Barnsley (Sunday 3pm)
Team news: The Tykes will again be without the injured Bobby Hassell, Danny Haynes, and Reuben Noble-Lazarus. Striker Craig Davies and defender Jimmy McNulty both line-up against one of their former clubs. Striker Billy Paynter makes his debut for Brighton after moving on loan from Leeds United.
