Midfielder Knasmuller ends forgettable spell with Barnsley

FORGOTTEN Barnsley midfielder Christoph Knasmuller has ended his ill-fated stint at Oakwell by returning to his native Austria to sign for Rapid Vienna on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old, who only joined the Reds at the end of the January transfer window from Admira Wacker, signing a three-and-a-half year deal, made just three appearances for the club.

His only start arrived in the 3-1 loss to Middlesbrough on March 10, his last appearance for the Reds, with the former Austria U19 player never featuring in a game at Oakwell.

Knasmuller had joined Barnsley for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £500,000.
