ADAM HAMMILL has spoken of his delight after committing his future to Barnsley - after signing a two-year deal at Oakwell.
The out-of-contract wingman rebuffed significant interest from rival Championship clubs to pen fresh terms with the Reds - and despite admitting that it wasn’t a straightforward decision, he said that his heart ruled his head in the final analysis.
Hammill, a catalyst for the club’s remarkable rise to promotion and dual Wembley success in the second half of last season, said: “It most definitely wasn’t an easy decision. I had two weeks away with my family and there were quite a few offers on the table.
“But in the last 24 to 48 hours, we sat down and decided what was the best for my future for my family.
“Sometimes, your heart rules and this was most definitely one of those moments.
“It was a special season last season and we have the momentum carrying forward and there’s no reason why we can’t go in and establish ourselves as a Championship club next year with the players we have got and what hopefully we are going to add.
“It’s a fantastic working environment and the staff and the players and everyone respects each other to a man.”
Hammill is contracted at the club until June 30, 2018.
