‘Barnsley have no time to cry’ warns Gerhard Struber

BARNSLEY head coach Gerhard Struber says the Reds ‘have no time to cry’ after seeing several results go against them on Saturday.

On a day when Struber’s side had to settle for a point against Millwall, relegation rivals Luton Town, Charlton Athletic and Middlesbrough all won, with the Oakwell outfit dropping down to the bottom of the Championship.

The Austrian, whose side host Blackburn tomorrow, said: “We have no influence about other results of other teams. It was a little disappointing, but we have seven games for our cause and when we bring the same performance, especially in our defensive structure and style, it is difficult for our next opponents.

“This is our aim – to pick up points in our next seven matches.

“We have no time to cry and we have to bring a good mood and attitude in our next game and then it is not easy for our opponents against Barnsley.

“In the end, maybe it could be a very important point.”

On his side’s defensive improvement and singling out Mads Andersen for particular praise, he added: “We are doing the right job with the right concentration and focus.

“When we speak about defensive structure and behaviour, I am very happy at the moment.

“My boys did a brilliant job and everyone was clear in their task and had the right attitude.

“They did their jobs and with Romal (Palmer) and Alex (Mowatt) as the sixes (defensive midfielders), we had a good fighting mood against this massive opponent.

“Mads played a fantastic game and he was so reliable in every situation.”

Editor’s note: first and foremost - and rarely have I written down these words with more sincerity - I hope this finds you well.
