Barnsley: Johnson salutes in-form Davies

The Reds may have failed to record a seventh consecutive League One victory after equalling the feat of six league wins on the spin recorded by Norman Hunter’s promotion class of 1980-81, but Johnson was satisfied that his side extended their unbeaten run to seven matches.

Davies, enjoying a run in the side with Ross Turnbull out for the rest of the season, helped perserve that sequence and maintained his recent good form - which has seen him concede just once in his past seven outings.

Johnson, whose side welcome second-placed Preston on Saturday, said: “The keeper dug us out a couple of times.

“He’s saved us a couple of points already in this run and probably saved us a point.”

On the performance of his side, Johnson, who saw Milan Lalkovic dismissed late on, added: “I have to say I’m pleased.

“I know you probably shouldn’t say your pleased with a point, but I knew it would be a tough game; I knew coming here after a tough game on Saturday would be emotionally draining.

“I changed the shape - did it work? Probably not in my opinion, so I have to take a little bit on the chin there, but I changed it pretty quickly.

“The minute we went back to the 4-3-3, we were good then. I thought we kept and moved the ball much better and from then on we were okay.”
