Barnsley sign Nottingham Forest striker Tudgay on loan

Barnsley’s long-search for a loan striker has finally ended after their capture of Nottingham Forest frontman Marcus Tudgay on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The former Sheffield Wednesday player had made only two appearances for Forest this season and has not played since the draw with Huddersfield Town in August.

The arrival of Tudgay has been badly needed with the Reds having lost their last four days and having failed to find the net in their last three defeats, with Keith Hill’s side having badly missed injured top-scorer Craig Davies.

Aside from Davies’ input, the Reds forwards have contributed just one goal between them, with the arrival of Tudgay a timely boost.

Reds chief Hill had also been linked with moves for a host of forwards, losing out to Huddersfield in the race to sign Simon Church, with the club also linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday’s Chris O’Grady.
