Barrow 2 York City 1: Wembley return hopes dashed

YORK City's hopes of returning to Wembley for a second successive FA Trophy final ended with this quarter-final loss at Barrow last night.

Substitute Richard Pacquette's 70th-minute goal was scant consolation after Barrow had grabbed a first-half advantage through Phil Bolland and Jason Walker.

Barrow forged ahead in the fifth minute when Bolland headed in from Paul Rutherford's right-wing cross.

The Cumbrians doubled their lead when defender Djoumin Sangare conceded a penalty for a clumsy challenge and Michael Ingham was beaten from the spot by Walker.

Sangare went some way to atoning for his earlier error when he set up substitute Pacquette to reduce the deficit.
