Bath City 2 York City 2: Gash and Till on target for Minstermen

YORK CITY manager Martin Foyle was unhappy after seeing his side gain only a share of the spoils from their first visit to promoted Bath.

"That was certainly two points dropped rather than one gained and I am gutted to be honest. Three of the four goals we have conceded have come from individual errors," said Foyle.

On the plus side, Foyle was delighted with the form of Michael Gash – "our best player in the three games so far."

Gash is York's most expensive signing in recent years at 55,000, but he had looked far from value for money throughout last season, although he struggled to be fully match-fit after a foot injury.

On Saturday, however, he showed just why Foyle had signed him, working hard, leading the line well, scoring a super goal and setting up the other.

A 30-yard thunderbolt from Adie Harris (38 mins) put Bath ahead against the run of play only for Gash (42) to start and finish a move with Chris Carruthers with a flying header.

A blunder by Michael Ingham, who misjudged Adam Connolly's centre, saw Lee Phillips head home (66). Richard Brodie missed an open goal before Peter Till's 25-yard fierce shot from Gash's headed pass (81) earned York a point. It should have been three.
