Both players were substituted during the Terriers' 5-0 defeat at Bournemouth last weekend and missed the trip to Coventry City on Wednesday night.

Hamer has a groin issue while Ward is out with a hamstring problem, although there are no fresh injury worries for head coach Carlos Corberan ahead of tomorrow's Championship contest with Watford.

"I don't think he will be ready. He is training with the goalkeeping coach without doing any kicking," said Corberan of Hamer's availability.

"We will continue with the same two 'keepers.

"If he rests tomorrow then next week he will be able to train with the team.

"He will be with the squad for the next week."

Corberan was delighted to see his side keep a clean sheet in their 0-0 draw with the Sky Blues, following the five-goal thrashing at the hands of Bournemouth last weekend.

It was their third clean sheet in four games and represented a points return of seven from a possible 12.

"I think the clean sheet was very positive for two reasons," he added.

"The first one is that it allowed us to win at least one point. If we don't get a clean sheet and we struggle to score, we don't get anything from the game.

"The second thing is that it shows the spirit in defence that we need to have. We need to try and continue improving, in football improvement in defence and attack is never done."

Watford sit third in the Championship, only behind Bournemouth and Norwich City, with the top three clubs the ones relegated from the Premier League last season.

The Hornets have kept the majority of their side together from the one that was relegated from the top flight last term and Corberan feels they boast one of the best squads in the Championship.

He added: "Watford have one of the strongest squads in the league.

"That is why they are staying so high in the table but we need to concentrate on ourselves and how we can stop the dangerous players they have.

"For me, they have a very high number of dangerous players and very good wingers.

"We need to think about the strengths they have but, like every team, they have weaknesses we can exploit."

Watford defender Craig Cathcart is out with a hamstring injury while Isaac Success is sidelined by an Achilles problem. Tomorrow's visitors will also be without a couple of unnamed players due to Covid-19.
