Bett's strike proves little consolation

Evo-Stik: Ossett Town followed their 4-1 League Cup third-round home defeat against Stocksbridge Park Steels by going down 3-1 at Colwyn Bay.

The game in North Wales was the only Premier Division fixture to go ahead but Mark Bett's 58th-minute goal was all Town had to show for their journey.

By then, the Welshmen had built a two-goal advantage, John Newby scoring from the penalty spot in the first minute and Karl Noone adding a second nine minutes before the break. Newby's goal offered Town some hope until Fraser McLachlan grabbed Bay's third with five minutes left.

Among the casualties was the West Yorkshire derby between Bradford Park Avenue and FC Halifax Town.

All Division One North games were off and the only Division One South fixture to survive was at Loughborough where the Dynamos lost 2-1 to Sutton Coldfield Town.
