STRIKER Jon Shaw struck twice as Halifax came from behind to earn a replay in a thrilling FA Trophy second-round encounter at Woodside Park.
The home side took the lead just before the hour mark when Ahmed Deen free-kick from the right wing was missed by everyone and ended up in the back of the Halifax net.
But the Shaymen were only behind for seven minutes as Shaw forced the ball home from close range after Simon Heslop's initial shot had been blocked.
The Bishops were back in front with 21 minutes remaining when Roy Essandoh – one-time FA Cup hero with Wycombe Wanderers – headed in a cross from Loui Fazakerley.
Halifax goalkeeper Adam Legzdins saved from Greg Pearson and Deen before Halifax made it 2-2 with 11 minutes remaining and Shaw was again the hero.
Andy Campbell had an effort saved by the goalkeeper before Lewis Killeen hammered the rebound against the bar. The ball bounced down and Shaw was on hand to stab home.
There had been chances in a goalless first half as well, with Pearson finding the side-netting with a shot after rounding Legzdins for the home side.
Craig Nelthorpe, on his Halifax debut after arriving on loan from Doncaster Rovers, twice tested the home goalkeeper and Heslop was inches wide from long range.
The sides are due to meet again in the replay at The Shay tomorrow.
