Blackpool v Doncaster Rovers: Expecting towering prformance from Rovers

BLACKPOOL and illuminations are two words that will not necessarily be mentioned in the same sentence by Doncaster Rovers' manager Darren Ferguson.

Rovers’ previous visit to the West Coast seaside town in November 2016 ended in a 4-2 defeat that riled the Scot and a frustrating 3-3 draw early in the current season at the Keepmoat Stadium, when the Seasiders came from behind three times, left him decidedly sore.

With Easter underway, memories of Rovers’ painful late home loss to Pool on Easter Monday 2016 will also come to the fore as it was a defeat that caused the relegation bells to chime.

A positive result today would certainly help to redress the balance, with Rovers not shy of support either with a healthy contingent travelling to the seaside in holiday season.

Ferguson said: “We have sold all our tickets and everyone is going for the Easter weekend in Blackpool and they will have fun, hopefully with three points.

“We are taking 800, which is a right good support and is great, and apparently they are not going to have many fans there at all because of the problems they are having, which is a real shame.”
