Ninth-placed Halifax head into today’s game at Boreham Wood on the back of a sound home showing against Wrexham, with manager Billy Heath hailing the display as “magnificent” despite the game ending 0-0.

A congested top end of the table means that the Shaymen trail leaders Macclesfield by only four points ahead of today’s action, with early evidence suggesting that the division will be tight with no one likely to run away with it in the promotion stakes.

Today’s opponents are just a place and a point behind Halifax, seeking for a much better performance level on the road after a low-key 2-0 defeat at Ebbsfleet last time on their travels.

But looking at the division as a whole, much-travelled forward Tomlinson believes that the Shaymen do not have too much to fear in their play-off pursuit if their form and results remain on an even keel.

Recent statistics would suggest so, with Halifax having triumphed in six of their past ten outings in a run that has seen their colours lowered just twice.

Tomlinson said: “One win and you are at the top and one loss and you are falling away.

“If we can put a run of wins together then we will be right up there at the end of the season. There is not a reason why we will not be.”

On Halifax’s fourth away game in a row within close proximity of London, he added: “We have got to go into every game and try and get the three points.

“They (Boreham Wood) are another London team and they have got a good base of players around London, so they have got loads to select from. But we will go to get the three points.”
