Bournemouth v Rotherham United - Millers seek to break 38-year record

YOU have to go back to Rotherham’s United memorable nine-in-a-row victory sequence of early 1982 for the last time they won four successive away matches at second-tier level.

The Millers will equal that accomplishment if they triumph on the south coast tonight and it would stand well with Paul Warne’s feats with the Millers.

He said: “It would be pretty amazing to take into the Norwich game on Saturday. I don’t denigrate any win in this league, but away wins are a real bonus.

“I do not detract from the fact that not having fans in definitely helps us away from home because when you turn up and play at Bournemouth with 30 people, it is different than 12,000 screaming Bournemouth songs at you for the whole game. In a similar way, we have not won as many games at home. But it would be a massive achievement for us.

“I am massive on achievements and medals and it would be something I would look back on when I am 80 that I would be really proud of the lads for foing it.”

Despite their fine recent feats, the Millers, whose weekend game was postponed, have not seen their position overly improve.

Warne added: “The psychology is trying to get the lads not to be obsessed with the league table and just focus on performances.

“If we can keep our performances, we might be able to accumulate enough points to have a season we can be really proud of.”
