Bradford City 0 Notts County 0: Glennon frustrates high-flying County

Battling Bradford threatened to put the skids under Notts County's automatic promotion push but in treacherous conditions they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Injuries and suspension meant manager Peter Taylor had to ring the changes against the in-form visitors and City had a lucky escape after just two minutes when striker Luke Rodgers muscled his way through.

The front man was only playing after a successful appeal against a red card and it took a smart block from goalkeeper Matt Glennon to deny him an early goal after he got the better of Steve Williams.

Rodgers then saw a header fly wide of goal, but City gave as good as they got on in the tricky rain-lashed conditions.

On the half hour mark City striker Gareth Evans came closest to opening the scoring when his 10-yard half volley was well blocked by Kasper Schmeichel.

The Bantams upped the tempo at the start of the second half and striker James Hanson was close to getting on the end of a superb cross by Luke O'Brien.

Michael Flynn then stung Schmeichel's hands with a fierce drive, but the visitors should have taken the lead soon after.

A cut-back by Rodgers was dummied by Delroy Facey, but Ben Davies lost his head and scooped his shot over the bar.

Glennon denied Rodgers when he pushed away another effort. Taylor brought on speedy Hull rookie Ryan Kendall, but it was Hanson who had City's best late chance when he sent Evans's cross over the bar.
