Bradford City 1 Darlington 0: Hanson on target for Bantams

A FIRST-HALF header from James Hanson secured a long-awaited home win for Bradford City but new manager Peter Taylor is looking for more.

The Bantams ended a run of eight league games without a home win but their fans endured a nervous second period against bottom-side Darlington.

City recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since September and Taylor said: "Just before the boys went out I was very pleased with them in that changing room. They looked a determined bunch to me. I'm very, very pleased with their attitude. They're very willing workers at the minute."

Taylor said of the crowd of over 11,000: "I'd like to give them a bit more really. We gave them a good start, we won the game and that's great."

City started brightly with striker Mark McCammon and left-back Robbie Threlfall to the fore on their home debuts. McCammon and Hanson both wasted good openings early on before the former Guiseley striker bagged his ninth of the season after 26 minutes.

Hanson started the move with a neat pass to Gareth Evans on the right flank and when the cross came over he rose highest to head home from sx yards out.

After the interval goalkeeper Matt Glennon saved smartly from Josh Gray, but it was the Bantams who had the best chances.

Substitute Michael Boulding headed wide and Evans saw his goalbound shot blocked by goalkeeper Shane Redmond. In stoppage time, Boulding fired over.
