Bradford City ratings: Which players stood out in day of despair in League One play-off final defeat

Doyle 6: Rarely tested until Millwall’s late winner, which he stood no chance of keeping out. Good handling when called upon.

McArdle 7: Had a great chance to break the deadlock just before the hour but headed over from a Tony McMahon free-kick. Crucial late block denied Steve Morison.

Vincelot 6: Played in a back three and was always neat and tidy on the ball. His precision passing helped City start several dangerous counter-attacks in the first half.

Knight-Percival 6: Showed tremendous bravery to head clear amid flying boots in the six-yard box as Bradford tried to clear a corner but was caught wrong side of Steve Morison when veteran striker volleyed in the winner.

McMahon 7: Trademark precision from his set-piece delivery that deserved better from his team-mates, while in defence he was typically solid.

Merdith 6: Brought a first have save from Archer with a snapshot. Got forward well in support of the Bantams attack as a wing back. Booked.

Cullen 7: Composed on the ball and full of energy, the West Ham loanee looking very much at home amid the wide open spaces of Wembley.

Law 6: Always available for the ball and the bowling green-like surface suited his passing game to a tee. Substituted.

Clarke 6: Denied by a stunning one handed save from Jordan Archer in the 13th minute. Cut a desolate figure at the final whistle. Substituted.

Marshall 7: Lively in first half and Bradford’s main threat, causing Millwall to reshuffle at the interval in an attempt to nullify his threat. Beautifully judged through ball from the club’s Player of the Year created the chance for Clarke that saw Archer save impressively.

Wyke 5: Kept in check by the Millwall defence. Had one headed chance in the first half but struggled to make an impact.

Jones (for Clarke 74) 5: Struggled to get into the game after being brought off the bench.

Dieng (for Law 74) 5: Ran around and tried to get involved but it was a struggle as the Lions were in the ascendancy by then.
