Bradford City turn attention to transfer window

BRADFORD CITY may be inactive on the first weekend of 2021 due to positive Covid-19 tests in the Morecambe camp causing the postponement of the League Two home match, but there will be no respite as far as assistant caretaker manager Connor Sellars is concerned.

The Bantams are seeking to instigate several pieces of business in the January transfer window and the presence of recently-appointed recruitment director Lee Turnbull will certainly help to facilitate matters in that department.

On the presence of Turnbull, Sellars said: “Of course it will help. But as managers, we have got to have our own beliefs. When people talk about pulling the wool over our eyes, we have still got to know what we want as well as Lee and work together.

“But we’re all looking to do right by the club.

“We have come from a lot younger when you are looking for potential in players and thinking about how they grow and mature. There’s a lot of detail in working with younger players and making sure you pick the right ones.

“We are on a different level now and we are talking about professionals who have played league games or maybe it’s loan moves from other clubs or potential free agents, if there are any out there.

“It’s a different ball game and we appreciate all the work and the knowledge that Lee’s going to bring.”

“Obviously there are lots of different types of players for each position and it’s which type you want. People have different opinions on what types will make us better and we’ve got to provide evidence and clarity on why that would work for us.

“It’s the transfer window and we’ve got to operate in the best way we can. We have got to make tough decisions and easy decisions and make sure that we’re happy at the end of it with what’s happened.”
