The 27-year-old, who played 26 times for the Lancashire outfit last term, will officially join the Bantams on July 1 when his contract with Stanley expires.

Richards-Everton had been in discussions with Accrington regarding a fresh deal, but has elected to move on after being enticed by the challenge across the Pennines.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to be here. When I first found out about the interest, I spoke to Gary (Bowyer) and was keen to come and sign for such a fantastic club.

“I played against Bradford last season for Accrington, and the stature of the club was clear to see.

“It should not be in this position, going into League Two, but the manager will get the right players in and we will look to move straight back up.”

On the signing, Bowyer added: “Ben is a good character and I was very impressed when I met him.

“He will give us some size in our back four, he is quick and can also operate at left-back.

“Ben knows how to get out of League Two and we need that kind of mentality in our dressing room.

“He had attracted attention from other clubs, but Ben expressed a desire to come and play here.”

Rotherham United goalkeeper Laurence Bilboe has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.

A product of the Millers academy, the youngster signed his first professional contract in March 2016 and his latest deal will take him through to June 2020.
