City urged to start climb

PHIL PARKINSON has challenged Bradford City to build on the first win of his managerial spell at Valley Parade to launch a charge up the League Two table.

The Bantams overcame the dismissal of Andrew Davies to beat Torquay United in what was Parkinson’s seventh league game in charge.

Now, ahead of the trip to fellow strugglers Hereford United, the City chief said: “We have had an encouraging couple of weeks, with the Torquay win coming on the back of a good performance and draw at Burton Albion and knocking Huddersfield Town out (of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on penalties).

“There has been a good atmosphere at the training ground, but equally we have to keep our feet on the ground.

“One good week will mean nothing if we don’t build on it, starting at Hereford.”

The Bulls are one of just three clubs sitting below Bradford in the Football League but Parkinson added: “We will need to be at our best.

“Pleasingly, the match fitness of the new signings who didn’t have a pre-season such as Craig Fagan, Kyel Reid and Matt Duke is improving and that can only help us out on the pitch.”
