The final football of the calendar year was highlighted by a big Yorkshire derby win for Barnsley over Leeds United in the Championship.

Ricardo Vaz Te (16, 51, 72) grabbed a Reds hat-trick at Oakwell, with Craig Davies also netting. Luciano Becchio replied late on for Leeds.

Martin Paterson (34) scored only goal of the game for Clarets.

FT Watford 4 Doncaster Rovers 1

Marvin Sordell (44) put the Hornets in front before Billy Sharp (44) equalised. Goulon was sent off for the visitors, before Sordell restored Watford’s lead. John Eustace (84) and Michael Kightly (90) added further goals.

League One

FT Preston North End 0 Sheffield Wednesday 2

Danny Batth (4) opened scoring for Owls, before Ben Marshall (42) completed the victory.

FT Sheffield United 3 Hartlepool United 1

Ryan Flynn (12) gave Blades the lead, before Chris Porter (34) doubled advantage. Ched Evans (42) made it 3-0. Peter Hartley (90) replied late on for Hartlepool.

League Two

FT Bradford City 3 Shrewsbury Town 1 (3pm)

Goals from James Hanson and Nahki Wells gave Bradford a first-half lead. Craig Fagan (49) added a third. Dave Syers was sent off before Marvin Morgan (78) gave the visitors some consolation.
