Agreement over the deal between Gulf Finance House and a four-man consortium that also includes Andrew Flowers, managing director of current shirt sponsors Enterprise Insurance, was struck on November 30. Initially, it was hoped that the sale would go through early in the new year.

That target date was then revised to the middle of this month by sources close to the bidding group but, as of yet, the long-awaited completion is yet to go through.

As part of yesterday’s submission to the Dubai bourse it was revealed that, providing the purchase goes through as planned, GFH will retain a 10 per cent share in the club.

United’s visit to QPR on Saturday, March 1 has been brought forward to 12.15pm and will be shown live by Sky Sports.

Bradford City winger Kyel Reid is facing up to eight months out after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during Saturday’s 2-2 derby draw at Sheffield United.

The 26-year-old received the news – which manager Phil Parkinson has described as “devastating” – yesterday afternoon following a scan.

He will undergo surgery in around a fortnight once the swelling on his knee has gone down.

Parkinson said: “We are obviously devastated for Kyel.

“We unfortunately felt at the time that Kyel had done something serious and we were fearing the worst over the weekend.”

Reid caught his knee in the turf just before the half-hour mark following a challenge from Blades full-back Tony McMahon.

Huddersfield Town have signed Harry Bunn until the end of the season following his release by Manchester City.

The 21-year-old is yet to make his debut for the Championship club despite joining on loan in November, but manager Mark Robins said: “We were pleased with what we saw of Harry and he did well in a short space of time.”

Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, are still waiting to hear from Stephen McPhail over the contract offer that they have made to the midfielder.

McPhail’s short-term deal expired after the weekend draw at Burnley and there is understood to be interest from several other clubs.

Sheffield United’s trip to Preston North End has been put back a couple of days to Monday, March 17, and will be shown live on Sky Sports.

The game at Deepdale will kick off at 7.45pm.
